TALES OF LIGHT

As all of us I am many. A former director of a business school a consultant and a HR Expert for the government, a mountainer, a climber, a skier, a traveller and a lover and a friend. Many things change in the cause of a life, but some themes seem to prevail, stay long enough to become a second and then a first nature. But some times it takes time to find this inner me.

My first university study was biology but then finally I ended with Philosophy and political sciences. I was focusing on environmental ethics and from my early years in university on I developed a passion for the outdoors and for nature. In the beginning only as a playground and this love for nature and my affection for risk and the sublime brought me to the farest places on earth from the Himalayas to the Andes from Alaska to Patagonia, from Russia to Afrika, the Islands of the Pacific to the Australian dessert. But all this just as tourist or a holiday expeditioneer.

Now it all seem to changed when I started to take photography more seriously. Not as before being only an instrument to document my adrenaline addiction and to prove to others my wanna be heroic deeds. But all of a sudden my perspective changed. I didn`t make picuters of me anymore in front of or on the top of mountains, steep slopes, crazy wild waters. The mountains, the rivers, the lakes and the forests - they became my passion, my reason to go to this places. Humbeld by their size and majesty, their timeless beauty so independet from human fashion and short term appetites. In photographing all the light out there I found my way of meditation, my access path to serentiy and solemn appreciation of the world before us. And so I learend that nature is not only a sporting ground a playing field for vanity. It is where we come from and where we will return to. And in a time where the products of our reason and our drive to move on are taking our roots away and our sense for the sacred, the mysterious and the beautiful. There to be enjoyed not as products or consumer goods but as part of the best we can be: creatures with the ability to be overwhelmed by our ability to appreciate beauty.

My journey is not ended. So much to learn and so much to see and also so much not to forget. And for all of this photography has become my main passion that drives me into the woods, onto the mountains and into the depths of the oceans.

To see so I can feel and to feel so I know I am alive, and to be alive for a reason. I want to see to make sense out of my existence.
